The controversial, long-needed Encinitas siding on the very busy Sufliner route on North San Diego County’s Coast will open soon to help facilitate Amtrak, Coaster, and BNSF train movements. This photo was taken during its construction in January. The view is at the Cardiff (south) end of the turnout before it was installed. Notice the concrete ties that were extensively used.
