VIA Rail Canada turns to Stadler for new hybrid locomotives

MONTREAL — The Canadian government will spend Ca$1.6 billion (U.S. $1.14 billion) to buy 45 new locomotives for VIA Rail Canada from Swiss-based Stadler, officials announced at a press conference today (July 29).
