It’s a foggy morning, as Pacific Surfliner train #571, with new equipment on a test run before its June 1 publicity tour, is at the Oceanside, CA, Transit Center. This center with its distinctive platform canopy was largely the work of the late Byron Nordberg, RailPAC’s founding President, who served as Chairman of the Oceanside Transportation Commission. Today this successful center incorporates Amtrak Surfliner trains, Coaster and Metrolink commuter trains, North County Transit, and Greyhound.
