Most if not all High Speed Rail equipment running over 125 miles per hour both tilt and conventional use fixed trainset with articulated cars like Talgo. Weight is a major issue at high speeds both because of the need for quick acceleration and because light weight equipment reduces wear and tear on both the trains and the tracks. Since trucks are the heaviest part of a rail car, weight is saved when fewer trucks are used by cars sharing trucks with articulated trainsets. Many High Speed Rail operators run 2 trainsets coupled together during periods of heavy traffic. They also use Yield-Management pricing like the Airlines to adjust ticket prices to raise them when demand is high and discount tickets to fill seats when demand is lower. NB
